An original sketch I made a while back in my studio of the Muslim phrase bismillahi-Rahmaani'Raheem, beginning with the name of God, the compassionate, the merciful. Drawn to scale, the sketch is a modern take on the fluidity of Arabic script.
Watercolour inks fill in the shapes and I intentionally bled the red-yellow on the right letters 'bismillah'.
The sketch is a template for several graphic designs I have in the process, a logo, and a textile silk painting. Gutta (a paste-like liquid) will trap the outlines and silk inks will bleed perfectly into the silk fabric to create that blurred effect. A sprinkling of crystal salt (sea salt) is another great technique for silk painting.
I hope I get this made soon insha'Allah.
