"Imagine you're 7 years old and you come from a family that isn't well off. Your parents can't afford to keep you in the house so they send you to an uncle who's a teacher of a madrasah (Islamic school). One day he comes into your room and hugs you; and that's how it all begins. He touches you again, inappropriately and for four years violates you in way which cannot be mentioned here. At the age of 11, you tell your parents that you cannot live like this but they say you have a personal agenda against him, 'he is a pious teacher, he cannot do such things!' Aged 11 you try to take your life, at 19 you try to commit suicide again to end the pain, and for the third time you try to end it, but Allah subhanahu wa ta`la keeps you alive...

Let's bring it to reality. This person is now an adult Muslim woman, she cannot have a relationship with people because of a fear of broken trust. She wears the niqab, not because she believes it's a religious commandment but because she believes that's the only way she can live, unseen, protected.

How do you help such a person? What do you say to ease their pain? Can we ease someone else's burdens?

Allah says in the Qur'an:
"And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, Who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah , and indeed to Him we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided." (Qur'an, 2:155-157)

Let's take a lighter tone... A test for you! A Driver's Test. Imagine you're a driver by yourself, reversing out of your parked spot. You check your sideview mirror, your rear-view mirror, you check all around and back out very, very slowly. BOOM! You hit something! What did you just say?! Usually, at this moment, we say a four-letter word we wouldn't repeat in front of our parents.

Imagine if you died at that moment, and that was the last word you said, upon the qadr (decree/will) of Allah. You need to pay attention to what the 'last' reaction you have, the 'last' word you say. [...] Change your perspective, look at things differently, if you think you're not being tested by Allah. A test is not a punishment from Allah, it's a means to come closer, come closer to Him. Recognise that you're either being tested by pain, or you're being tested by pleasure - and they BOTH need the exact same result: You need to turn back to Allah [...] "

You need to watch the rest! And if this doesn't make you cry, may Allah ta`la give you a soft heart!
