Link Love: The Quranic Arabic Corpus

What: Corpus Quran. ('Brother' site to Quran.com)

Content: WOW - the whole website is a teaching tool for studying Qur'an from the basics - understanding what each Arabic word means and how they connect to make beautiful sentences. The syntax branching system makes the Arabic much easier to appreciate, understand and memorise. For non Arabic speakers like I, whatever your level - this is seriously awesome.

Arabic words branch connections; select a word to see is root
The corpus provides three levels of analysis: morphological annotation, a syntactic treebank and a semantic ontologyA word by word Qur'an breaks down the definitions and types of words (adjectives, synonyms etc). A Syntactic Treebank branches out in a mind-node fashion to illustrate a colour-coded analysis of the words from the Qur'an.

If you click each Arabic word a short explanation of the grammar and morpholygy is shown for each word. This is phenomenal Qur'an learning.

My rating: The site is a complete package. It includes a full English translation alongside audio Qur'an recitation by Qari Saad Al-Ghamadi, a dictionary and the above stuff for truly visual learning. I'm in love. 10 .

  1. Assalaamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh! JazakAllah khair for sharing this. It really is a good tool for learning the grammatical structure! MashaAllah, I'm so loving it as well.

Just thought it would be necessary for me to state the following in case anyone might think about dropping one Qur'anic site for the other. One can actually benefit from all Qur'anic sites at the same time. Our site is perfectquran.com for those who don't know yet. I and bro Abu Sabah are still working on this word-to-word Qur'an site, but the aim is slightly different than Corpus. We don't focus on making it a tool for learning grammar. Our aim is more on making it easy for people to automatically share/tweet individual ayat, which would come along with a list of used vocabulary. So we're more on letting followers naturally learn more vocabularies slowly yet constantly as tweets are automatically shared, and also trying make everything look as simple as possible.

    Thanks again for sharing!
