'Treeward' Palestine by Al-Maghrib (GreenProphet Post)

A short while back I became Editor of the Middle Eastern environment website GreenProphet.com.

My first article on recycling mentioned how the British weather mussed up my environment plans as a Muslim, and how, like a butterfly effect, that simple action can affect the Middle Eastern region.

Recently I wrote another piece for Green Prophet.com, reflecting the 'waste not' theme that Muslims live by, but focusing on how organisations help keep the Middle East greener.

We all know about the Palestine/Israel conflict. We are quick to take sides, we see the blatant injustice by both governments and military and hope with a du'a' (supplication) to Allah it'll 'blow' over. The thing is, that power is in our hands. Those self-elected governments make decisions that we are aware of and we can crush. We can, but we show the defeatist mentality. We try, but we must try harder.

Anywho, minus the political agenda, I wrote about my visit to an Al-Maghrib Institute seminar where a "Treeward" scheme based in Palestine took my attention. Longer story made shorter: Muslim Hands run this scheme and I propose we all chip in to buy a tree for the thousands being kerplunked in Palestine. Insha'Allah.

Comment on what you agree/disagree on my GreenProphet.com piece: UK's Al-Maghrib Inst. Plants Olive Trees for Palestine.
