A Whirling Dervish

In the name of God, compassionate & merciful بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ Peace be with you السلام عليكم

On a little research route I found this description on Whirling Dervishes in the US, explaining the symbolism on the attire and dance of the spiritual movement.

The hat is a tombstone of the ego; the skirt is ego's shroud.

Removing his black cloak, the Dervish is spiritually reborn to truth.

Lifting the arms crosswise testifies to God's unity. Whirling, the arms open: the right arm directed to the sky, to receive God's beneficence; the left hand and fastened eyes, are turned toward earth.

Whirling right to left around the heart, embraces all humanity with love.

The human was created with love to love. All loves are a bridge to Divine love. Yet, those who have not had a taste of it do not know.

~ Rumi

*sigh* Not a sufi or a mystic, or an avid fan of the poet Rumi. But that was pretty sufi-sonic. I also found a trippy veedeeoh from a Bollywood film; Jodha - Akbar, apparently based on the 'Muslim' leader's life. Khwajarites - another cult/sect branch that split from Qur'anic interpretation, lead by one Khwaja. I want that man's green turban. Hmmm.
