Muslim Women In The Arts & Me
Asalam`alaykum brethren and ... sister-en,
I have some positive news to share with you, masha'Allah. In representing British flavoured Muslimness I am trying insha'Allah to be an active individual of the local and global community. This means meetings with iconic Muslims, supporting existing projects and promoting Muslim organisations, both online and offline. That's one of the reasons I began the media savvy site www.muslimness.com.
A heavy part of this global Muslim network is sat on the shoulders of extraordinary Muslim women, sisters whom I deeply respect for their soul, commitment and all-round electric character. Muslim Women In The Arts is a golden fragment of this artistic sisterhood.
And now, I'm also a member of Muslim Women In The Arts, alhamdulillah, along with a diverse number of inspirational Muslim women who excel in photography, production, fine arts and calligraphy. They're Hot stuff with a capital H. Read the full bios on the MWIA Artists page.
MWIA are spiritually rooted and very, very pro-active, especially under the co-ordination of architect Nadia Janjua. MWIA have a Muslim empowering art exhibition "Healing & Empowerment", on the 22nd of April, which you can read about here: Annual MWIA Exhibit. MWIA are also fundraising with a beautiful poster give-away and raffle for unique artwork. Muslimness.com has been promoting the event.
