1980's Love: Chinese jiǎo (角)
In the name of God, compassionate & merciful بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ | Peace be with you السلام عليكم
Remember the Chinese men that invaded my house? They had left behind oriental "goodies" which I complained against earlier. Men, pfft.
Weeell, I found something else they forgot to take. During a massive house clear out stashed underneath the computer desks were bags of their leftovers. In one bag I found a Chinese note from 1980.
I did some research and now know that this note is called Renminbi meaning "people's money". This is 1 jiǎo or Yi jiǎo and has the same value as £0.60-80 pence in English currency or $1 in American dollar. Not exactly pocket money but I'll contribute it towards that Aston Martin I've been eyeing {here}.
I used to have a giant bottle about 3ft tall full of foreign currency that was saved from travels. I had Krones, rupees, peso, riyaals, Somali shillings, yen, birr, dollars, Iranian rials, lira, dimes, and others I forget.
Whatever value society put on those metals and papers it was valuable just having such a huge collection. I think I "accidentally" smashed the bottle and the money just scattered.. or the mice ate it all.
Who do you love more - actuamally, I shall rephrase that: What takes you further, people or money?
