» Ze Magnifique Magazines
I don't believe an atom's worth of ink that is reported from the mass media. I do however buy the occasional broadsheet newspaper (those that are apparently less rife with gossip) and like a little duckling, subscribe to the following magazines that are both uber cool, and ethical.
- emel - The UK's leading Muslim lifestyle magazine.
- embox - The studious offspring to emel, a Muslim student magazine. Embox was mentioned in a Link Love on Muslimness.com.
- Azizah - Scrumptious Muslim women in North America
- Artskills - Frikkin' awesome. And weird.
- Illume - Heavy on USA's Muslim political climate
- MBM - Modest Beautiful Muslima. An online ezine on everything Mus-woman-lim.
- Muslim Girl Magazine - Mostly I respect MGM for the diverse photography. That's about it. Read a Muslim Matters review of MGM on why that is.
- Muslim Youth Magazine - Canadian, clean cut and educating.
- Muslim Quarterly - The only Muslim man's magazine. Read the review on Muslimness.
- Islamic Arts Zine - Beautifully visual & extensive research on international Muslim arts
- Heeba - Exhibiting creative cultures around the Muslim world. Great layout.
- Bak Magazine - Hot. Creative. All to do with international arts. Very graphic.
- I Am Profound Magazine - From the Profoundly Aesthetic company. I bought a brilliant tshirt from PA and reviewed it last year.
- Q-News - The Muslim magazine in-your-face analysis of current affairs.
- Sisters - A stylish magazine for "fabulous" women. Not like me then, clearly.
- Suburb - The neutral, easy to read and 'hmm, interesting' magazine.
- Suffah Foundation - Closer to home and more 'ethnic'.
- Times - It's smartish. And opinionated. And you knew that already.
I'll just make one at home for nothing (!) Someone say insha'Allah wi'me!
