Some important lessons from the full Tafsir (exegesis) of Qur'an Surah An-Nasr by Ustad Nouman Ali khan.

• When this Surah was revealed Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, cried profusely.
• Allah predicts the triumph of Islam which means that the job of Prophet Muhammad salallahu `alayhi was-salam (Allah's peace and blessings be on him), is complete and his life will come to an end.
• Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said:

''Umar ibn Al-Khataab, may Allah be pleased with him, asked them (a group of the companions) about the interpretation of the chapter of the Qur'an (which translates as): "When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest [of Makkah], And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes, Then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance." (Qur'an, An-Nasr: 1-4). Some of them replied: 'It is regarding the conquering of some areas by the Muslims' then Umar, may Allah be pleased with him asked: 'O Ibn 'Abbaas! What is your opinion?' Ibn 'Abbaas, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: 'This was a sign for the Prophet to know his time of death '." (Bukhaari)

• After the revelation of this Surah, the Prophet salallahu `alayhi was-salam made more Istighfar than he ever had before. Allah commanded to do so in the last verses.

May Allah ta`'a give us a real love and Honour for the Messenger of Allah, salallahu `alayhi was-salam, may Allah help us understand the Qur'an properly and live by it.
