Dua': For Our Parents

In the name of God, compassionate & merciful بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Peace be with you السلام عليكم

Because they got married decades ago in an older culture and tradition. Because they sacrificed their sleep, energy and ambitions to nurture new life. Because they bear the burdens of many and continue to struggle. Because they are only two, they are human, they are palpable to words that cut, they are here for an uncertain time. Because they are my parents.

O Lord, forgive me and my parents... ...رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ

(Prophet Sulayman said): "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants." (Qur'an, 27:19)

"And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], 'uff,' and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.  And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small.' (Qur'an, 17:23-24)

Read a collection of ahadith on parents (I haven't researched, fully read or checked the validity of them).
