Message of the Week - Lookin' Good
Checkin' out ya' awesome Muslim bling *flea* ...Ahem.
A great leader in Islamic practise and Khalif (Muslim leader) after the demise of the Prophet Muhammad(saw), ‘Umar (ra) said:
‘I saw the Messenger of Allah ask for a new garment. He put it on, and when it reached his knees he said. “Praise be to Allah, Who has given me clothes with which to cover myself and make myself look beautiful in this life.” ’
‘O Children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink: but waste not by excess, for Allah loves not the wasters. Say, Who has forbidden the beautiful gifts of Allah, which He has produced for His servants, and the things, clean and pure [which He has provided] for sustenance? Say: There are in the life of this world, for those who believe, [and] purely for them on the Day of Judgement. Thus do We explain the Signs in detail for those who understand’ The Wonderful Qur'an, Surah 7, verses 31-32.
Meaning: The idea is to wear what you are able to afford. Taking out a loan for a designer labelled hoody is plain stupid; also deliberately looking trashy [inc. the punk rock style *puzzled face*] is a bad extreme the Muslim does not want to be part of...
Look cool, Look Muslim. Peace out. NB: (ra) - is a contemporary abbreviation for the Islamic saying of respect 'Radhi'Allah anhu', which means 'May Allah be pleased with him'.
