Thanking You Rhonda Ragab & Team

A (sorta) quick but sincere message of gratitude to sister Rhonda, Marya and the team behind Suhaibwebb.com. Rhonda sent me that book for Eid. I'm well chuffed.

I rely heavily on a Qur'an ayat that was coincidentally used recently for a suhaibwebb article Grudges, Graffiti & Grief,

“The believing men and believing women are allies of one another.
They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer
and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger...” (Qur’an, 9:71)

I'm not a particularly social person and I have few friends. That's not a sympathy statement, but rather to say "less is more". Less is an abundance especially when those few weigh heavy on the scales of goodness, determination and kindness.

For Eid, as per annual tradition, I post out stuff I like for people I like. Last year it was mini gingerbread men, the year before, halal hampers, the year before that, iftar packs. This year I recycled Eid cards as The Eco Muslim {www.theecomuslim.com} and said thank you with a gingerbread couple to supporters of our fundraising for Africa.

As a guesstimate I sent around 300 Eid cards and 200 gingerbread men (*Note to self, 2 brothers in India are still expecting theirs). I posted in abundance. And I received 3 Eid cards in return. All of which were from Muslim prisoners.

Again, that's not a sympathetic comparison. What I'm balancing out is the value system. On one hand there is plentiful, mass produced and a large gesture of goodwill. On the other hand there is an intimate call to unity, a free du`a and reminder of human kindness.

Which brings me to the act of goodwill from Rhonda Ragab, Californian lifestyle expert and a managing editor on Imam Suhaib Webb's community blog {suhaibwebb.com}. Rhonda sent me a thank you card and a wonderful translation of Ibn Qayyim's 'Invocation of God'.

I am grateful for the sentiment and say alhamdulillah for the unwarranted kindness.

I'm also reminded of the remainder of the above ayah,

"...Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.”
          (Qur'an, 9:71)

Thank you very much sr. Rhonda and may Allah subhanahu wa ta`la show mercy to you for what you and your people do. Jazakallah khayran^10,000,000.

ps. I have that book already. Things work better in pairs. (:
