Cartoons on hot topics in Islam

I was asked earlier this year to sketch cartoons showing the 'grim side' of Islamic misinterpretations. These cartoons are used in Muslim literature and on the myth busting section of the Big Sister website.

The client: Shaista Gohir from MWNUK, an advocate of Muslim women's issues.
Disclaimer: I do not endorse the messages depicted so don't get at me for being a feminist, anti-Islamic, a liberal or some other stupid label, ok? Good.

The final cartoons
'What sisters' entrance at the mosque?'

'This is hijab'

'Women in power'

'Obeying the husband'

'Sex education 101'
'The inhabitants of hell'
'Muslim countries'

'Equity and equality'

'Domestic violence'

  1. These are fantastic - addressing important issues and pointing out the reality/seriousness concerning the poisons that plague the Ummah.

  5. A-salam`alaykum br. I shall shortly post each cartoon with its respective article/essay as written by Shaista Gohir. These have been published on the Big Sister website, which advocate an awareness of women's issues that perhaps are misunderstood and get brushed under the persian rug.

I understand the awkwardness of them, and I appreciate your feedback.

    Jazakallah khairan, Z.
